Review :

Office 2003 for Mac was relatively equivalent in appearance and with Office 2003 for Windows. It may have been too nave to suppose that Office 2008 for Mac would fill a place similar to Office 2007 on Windows.

Many things have remained the same in Office 2008 from previous versions. It is reassuring to find the familiar menu bar at the top of the screen, with the menus File, Edit, View, Insert, etc. Everything was still in the right place. The pallets were all floating toolbars, formatting, styles, alignment, margins, etc. However, the first question at the opening Word was, "Where's the tape?" C " is good news for users who do not like the tape (and there's nothing wrong with not liking the tape). It was a little strange that after redoing the entire look and feel of Word 2007, thatMicrosoft ( NSDQ: MSFT) has chosen to leave the tape in this release.

Not only there is no tape, no toolbar handy at the top with buttons for the safeguarding and basic editing tools. Curiously, Excel and PowerPoint base has a toolbar at the top of the window. Fortunately, there are not many of these discontinuities shocking.

Overall, the integration of Word, Excel and PowerPoint is fluid and well done. In an essay, a table has been inserted into a Word document and data entered into an Excel spreadsheet, without even realizing that the spreadsheet was opened in Excel. In this case, behaved the same way as Office 2007 applications.

In the past, it did not matter if Office has been on a PC or Mac - things were generally in the same places and have behaved in a similar way. That is no longer the case. Solution Providers planning to move from Windows to Mac may have to review, as it is viewed as a pitfall. Office 2008, including Word, is sufficiently different enough from Office 2007 on Windows that users will just spend time trying to figure out things.

It was difficult to find a large number of orders. Formatting palette is a bit crowded with all the different options and it takes time to find the familiar buttons. However, by going to Customize Toolbars and click on the "Dock" for each option from the toolbar the fate of the Formatting Palette to float anywhere on the screen. They can then drag it to the top of the window to mimic the old toolbars from the past.

Customize, personalize, customize. The level of customization is available pleasant. Not only pallets can be split to create the static toolbars, there was a way to change the menu bars. Under the Customize Toolbars, users can select various commands and drag them simply on the main menu at the top. Maybe the user must have the Word Count command appear in the File menu instead of the traditional Tools menu. Users can drag just off the Tools command and file. Or have alignment options available as a top-level command format instead of buried under Paragraph "- it's just a click and drag away. Users can also create their own toolbar, with their own set of controls on a toolbar that floats anywhere on the screen. It may even drag to the top of the screen to the toolbar tape is missing.

Currently moved back and forth between Mac and Windows without any problems, so mixed office can continue to operate this way. Just as Windows users have had to become accustomed to a lot of new things with Office 2007, Mac users are due for recycling.

It is a new feature that is difficult to decide whether or not it's any good: the elements of the gallery. The gallery is located at the top of the window, and has four (Excel), five (Word), or six tabs (PowerPoint) with advanced formatting options. In PowerPoint, elements of the gallery is divided into categories such as the themes of slides, slide presentations, transitions, and table layouts. Once a tab is selected, opened a gallery, with graphical representations of the options. Under slide layouts, there are images of different layouts available - selecting modify one slide in this format. This is very convenient and a lot easier than previous methods. However, in Word, the options are material elements, as the table of contents, headers and footers, tables and graphs fast, and WordArt. The region could have been devoted to better use.

Office 2008 for Mac is not revolutionize the application or the way users work - not in the way Office 2007 does for Windows users. He kept a lot of the old, beloved features, and slapped on a layer of the interface. The level of customization allowed to win what has been produced from eye candy.
